Carroll Dunham is an anthropologist, Buddhist practitioner, chaplain and pilgrim. Passionate about Himalayan herbs, she has worked with traditional healers in the Himalayas and Mongolia and is a life long student of the profound teachings of Sowa Rigpa. Author of 5 books on Himalayan cultures, she has produced over 12 films exploring the Science of Buddhism, Virgin Goddesses, Nomads of Mongolia and more. Her most recent book, a collaborative effort, Boudha: Restorating The Great Stupa with photographer Mani Lama and other contributors. After 30 years living in Nepal, with 16 summers in Mongolia, she and her husband now reside in New Mexico, learning to grow medicinal plants in the soil and elements of this high plateau desert.

Exploring medicinal plants and traditional healers of the Himalayas, the challenges they face in keeping this ancient knowledge flourishing, we discover some of the most profound aspects of healing as this tradition responds to the climatic and social challenges of our times.
