Dr. Thinlay Wangmo

Thinlay Wangmo was born and raised in Nepal, before moving to Mussoorie, India, for high school. After finishing her high school education, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Sowa Rigpa Medicine and Surgery, a rigorous six-and-a-half-year program that deepened her understanding of holistic healing practices. During her studies she became actively involved in medical camps across the remote Himalayan regions of Nepal, including Dolpo, Pharphing, Nagarkot, Solukhumbu, and Kathmandu, offering healthcare to underserved communities.

In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, she has always been passionate about community service and has been a member of the nonprofit organization Sorig Students in Action since her college days. She also worked as a science teacher at Kopan Monastery Shree Arya Asanga Buddhist School, where she had the opportunity to share her knowledge with young monks. For three years, she was actively involved in organizing Bhumtsok, a significant puja for the well-being of all sentient beings, which reinforced her commitment to both healing and compassion.

Currently, she is the main consultant and practitioner at Sowa Rigpa Wellness Centre in Boudha, Nepal, where she provides personalized care to individuals seeking traditional healing methods. Alongside her clinical practice, she serves as a lecturer at Sowa Rigpa International College and mentor at the Sowa Rigpa Institute, guiding the next generation of Sowa Rigpa practitioners. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading and collecting books, and she is deeply committed to preserving and promoting the ancient wisdom of Sowa Rigpa. Her journey has always been driven by a passion for healing, education, and service to the community.
