Part of Sowa Rigpa Institute’s Sowa Rigpa Yoga Practitioner Program:
Part 3: Tummo Yoga
SEPTEMBER 11th - 18th
Seven DAY RETREAT WITH DR. NIDA CHENAGTSANg
PURE LAND FARMS TUSCANY, ITALY
This retreat is open to students enrolled in Sowa Rigpa Institute’s one year Sowa Rigpa Yoga Practitioner program
Born in Amdo, in Northeastern Tibet, Dr. Nida Chenagtsang began his early studies of Sowa Rigpa at the local Tibetan medical hospital. Later, he was awarded a scholarship to enter the Lhasa Mentseekhang or Tibetan Medical University, where he completed his degree in 1996, with practical training at the Tibetan Medicine hospitals in Lhasa and Lhoka.
Alongside his medical education, Dr. Nida trained in Vajrayana with teachers from every school of Tibetan Buddhism. In particular, he trained in the Longchen Nyingthig tradition of the Nyingma school with his root guru Ani Ngawang Gyaltsen and in the Dudjom Tersar tradition with Chönyi Rinpoche and Semo Dechen Yudrön. He received complete instruction in the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage, the unique spiritual tradition of Tibetan Medicine, from his teachers Khenpo Tsultrim Gyaltsen and Khenchen Troru Tsenam, and was requested to continue the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage by Jamyang Rinpoche of the Rebkong ngakpa and ngakma community.
A well-known poet in his youth, Dr. Nida later published many articles and books on Sowa Rigpa and the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition in Tibetan and English, which have been translated into several languages. He has extensively researched ancient Tibetan healing methods, and has gained acclaim in East and West for his revival of little-known Tibetan external therapies.
Location and International Travel
The closest airport to Pure Land Farms is Florence Airport, Peretola (Amerigo Vespucci Airport FLR). Alternatively, arriving by train into Florence center (Santa Maria Novella Station) is a good option for those who prefer to arrive in another larger Italian city (Rome, Milano, Bologna, etc). If you are traveling internationally, we recommend arriving in Italy a few days before our program starts to adjust to the time change and have an opportunity to do personal sightseeing in Rome, Florence, or nearby villages.
Pure Land Farms Tuscany was born on what once was “Il Mulino di Ferraia” (still known to locals by this name): an old 16th Century stone water mill, newly renovated with loving care to combine a preservation of its original appearance and fascinating mystique with all modern amenities. This magical place, situated next to a river in a sheltered position is immersed in the most diverse vegetation and neighboring to vineyards which used to attract many poets, writers and artists since the 1700s when the English Romantic poet William Wordsworth became internationally famous with his verses for the nearby Vallombrosa Abbey and its fantastic forest. The natural gardens along the riverside offers many tranquil spaces and nooks in which you can meditate and contemplate. This serene environment provides the perfect healing space for intimate group retreats.
