Join us for a very special new years retreat with Tiffani Gyatso and Prajwal Vajracharya practicing the sacred Buddhist arts of painting and dance, nourishing the body and mind, while immersed in the healing environment of Pure Land Farms..

A mandala, meaning “circle” in Sanskrit, is a geometric representation of enlightened wholeness. In this five day retreat, we will connect with the mandala of the five Buddha families through art, dance, and meditation.

In the mornings we will practice through art, creating and coloring the mandala with mindful awareness while exploring its meaning with Tiffani Gyatso, Tibetan thangka painter and sacred geometry artist.

In the afternoons, we will embody the mandala through movement, studying the Charya dance tradition of Nepal and learning the attributes and expressions of each of the Buddha families with lineage holder, Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya.

Each day we will focus on one of the Buddha families, exploring its associated element, wisdom, color, and animal. On the final day, we will complete the mandala, uniting all the elements together in the complete circle.

Traditional Buddhist teachings and practices will be shared throughout the retreat, along with creative and fun ways in which we can more deeply connect with each of the five elements through colors, foods, healing herbs and more.

YOUR TEACHERS

Tiffani Gyatso is an artist from Brazil who focused her studies on the sacred expressions of art from different cultures. She specialized in traditional Tibetan Thangka painting, which she learned in India at the Norbulingka Institute from the years 2003-2006 and later furthered her studies at the Prince School of Traditional Arts in London where she studied sacred Geometry of the Middle East. Today she runs her own art retreat center at the Atelier YabYum at the mountains of Brazil and guides art groups to India and Nepal.

Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya is a 35th generation Tantric Buddhist priest from Nepal and ritual master of the Charya Nritya dance tradition and other ritual forms performed by the Newar Vajracharya lineage. Prajwal began his training in Charya Nritya at eight years old, receiving formal instruction mainly from his father, the Buddhist scholar and ritual master Ratna Kaji Vajracharya. Prajwal Vajracharya is now the premier teacher, practitioner, and performer of the tradition and is a veteran of several world tours with beginning and advanced students around the globe. He founded Dance Mandal: Foundation for Sacred Buddhist Arts of Nepal to preserve and expand this rare art form and its related traditions. With the survival of this sacred ritual dance threatened by modernization, Prajwal, at his father’s wishes, has dedicated his life to bringing this unique Buddhist heritage from the temples of Nepal to the world, while adhering to its original purpose as a profound spiritual practice.
