Tormas are representations of the deities made of dough, used in Vajrayana Buddhism as offerings and in different ritual practice. In this practical weekend course, participants will learn how to make the main tormas of the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition including the Guru Torma (Yuthok and the Four Dakinis), Yidam Torma (Hayagriva) and Protector Torma (Shanglon and Retinue).
Materials:
In order to be able to make the tormas along with the class, please have a large bowl, Quick Oats and boiling water. The dough is made of two parts quick oats and one part boiling water.
Frederico Trancoso has trained in Tibetan Buddhism for twenty-three years and completed extensive Vajrayana retreats under Lama Tharchin Rinpoche. Freddie is a Chaplain and an acupuncturist, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Therapy. He is a lead ritual chanter (umdze), and the Drupon (retreat master) for Drub Nyiy Döjö Gatsal, the Three-Year Retreat Center at Pema Osel Ling
