PURE LAND FARMS ETHICS STATEMENT
Pure Land Farms is dedicated to healing, study, and practice in the lineages of the Medicine Buddha, Yuthok Yönten Gönpo, and the Yuthok Nyingthig. We ask everyone who teaches, offers healing, or serves this center to uphold the commitments below. We also welcome guest teachers from other Buddhist and healing traditions who share these values.
Commitment to Non-Harming
1
We commit, in body, speech, and mind, to protect life and reduce suffering.
Protect life. We act with care for people, animals, and the natural world. We choose nonviolence and do not intentionally cause injury or place others at risk.
Speak with integrity. We communicate truthfully and responsibly. We aim for speech that is honest, timely, and kind, and we do not cover up harmful behavior. We avoid gossip and divisive talk.
Practice generosity and respect. We honor what belongs to others, including money, property, time, attention, and shared resources. We use resources responsibly and do not exploit anyone financially.
Honor relational safety. We engage in relationships that are consensual, respectful, and free of coercion or manipulation. We maintain clear professional boundaries in all teacher–student and practitioner–client relationships.
Cultivate clarity. We support clear awareness and wise choices. We relate to alcohol and substances in ways that preserve sobriety of mind, especially in teaching, retreat, or healing settings.
We take part in this community in the spirit of Medicine Buddha and Yuthok, with the wish to benefit beings. We cultivate bodhicitta, the heart that wishes to awaken for the sake of all.
We hold the welfare of students, retreatants, patients, and visitors before our own comfort, reputation, or gain.
We treat people with respect regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age, ability, nationality, or religion.
We recognize the preciousness and impermanence of human life, and we try to use our time, teachings, and resources to bring more sanity, kindness, and meaning into the world.
We acknowledge our limits. When a person’s needs go beyond our training or capacity, we do not pretend otherwise. We consult, refer, and learn.
We respect each person’s independence and freedom, and we honor their choice to participate to whatever extent feels right for them.
Commitment to Serve Others

Sowa Rigpa and Healing Conduct
3
Those who offer Sowa Rigpa or other healing services under the name of Pure Land Farms hold the spirit of the Tibetan physician’s oath and Yuthok’s medical commitments.
In particular:
We approach medicine as a path of compassion and responsibility, not as a way to gain power, wealth, or fame.
We see patients not as cases or income, but as fellow beings who could be our own parents or children.
We keep strict confidentiality around personal and medical information, except where there is a clear and immediate risk of serious harm.
We do not make unrealistic promises or claim special powers. Sowa Rigpa and related methods are offered as part of an integrated approach to health, not as a replacement for necessary medical or psychological care.
We do not work beyond our training. We commit to ongoing study, supervision, and self-reflection.
We keep clear boundaries: no romantic or sexual relationships with current patients or clients, no use of clinical encounters to seek admiration, gifts, or favors
Power, Consent, and Community Safety
4
Pure Land Farms is a place where people may feel vulnerable. For this reason, we take power dynamics seriously.
Teachers, retreat leaders, and therapists do not use their roles to seek sex, money, or personal advantage. Teaching or healing is never exchanged for sexual contact or special treatment.
We honor informed consent. Before any physical or energetic method is used, we explain clearly what it involves, and the person is free to say yes or no without pressure. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
We reject the misuse of ideas like “crazy wisdom,” “secret teachings,” or “tantra” to justify abusive behavior. No one at Pure Land Farms is beyond ethical responsibility.
We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind.
If someone feels harmed or unsafe, we commit to listening, taking their report seriously, and responding. No one will be punished for bringing a concern in good faith. The center will designate people whom students and patients can approach confidentially with ethical questions or complaints.
ASPIRATION
May Pure Land Farms always be a place where people feel safe to open their hearts, study, and heal. May our conduct honor the Medicine Buddha, Yuthok, and all our teachers. May any goodness that comes from these commitments ease suffering and bring benefit to beings in all directions.
