Eliminating Obstacles & Fulfilling Wishes:
A Tibetan New Years Retreat and Ngakmang Gathering
With Lama Gyurme Rabgye, Bair Manzarkhan, and Pure Land Farms Sangha
February 13 - 18, 2026
The Fire Horse year, which occurs only once every sixty years on the Tibetan lunar calendar, is known as a time of immense spiritual transformative energy and holds particular significance for practices connected to the healing lineage of Yuthok Yönten Gönpo, as this is the year that Yuthok transmitted his heart teachings to his disciple, Sumton Yeshe Zung. Join us at Pure Land Farms for an auspicious Tibetan New Year's retreat as we enter this year of the Fire Horse, to purify obstacles and create favorable conditions for the year ahead.
Under the guidance of ritual master Lama Gyurme, practitioners will engage in traditional Vajrayana Buddhist methods for clearing obscurations, enhancing protection, accumulating merit, and deepening our connection and training in the key practices of the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition.
Retreat practices include Yuthok's Kusali Chöd and Ganapuja with training in the proper use of ritual instruments; torma making and offering instruction; and sang smoke offerings to purify karmic debts, pacify local spirits, and protect the environment.
Extensive Shanglon protector practice and group retinue mantra accumulation will be guided daily by Bair Manzarkhan, according to the retreat instruction of Dr. Nida Chenagtsang. (Dr. Nida will stream in online for the first session of the retreat to introduce and offer the reading transmission fo the mantras that will be accumulated during the retreat.)
The retreat will conclude with a Losar New Year's celebration, in which Dr. Nida will stream in online again from Italy to offer his annual Losar greeting and astrology teaching on the year of the Fire Horse, sharing practical and spiritual guidance for the year ahead. We will learn how to make Tibetan momos and enjoy a feast with sangha and friends!
This retreat offers ngakpas and ngakmas (ordained yogis and yoginis) and dedicated students an opportunity to deepen their practice, receive authentic lineage transmissions, and begin this auspicious Fire Horse year with the support of qualified teachers and sangha in the healing environment of Pure Land Farms.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience Sowa Rigpa healing therapies during breaks from practice. This integration of spiritual practice and Sowa Rigpa healing embodies Yuthok's unique holistic approach to transformation and well-being.
May all obstacles be pacified and all wishes be fulfilled in accordance with the Dharma!

LAMA GYURME RABGYE
Tibetan born master painter and craftsman Lama Gyurme began his training when he was fifteen after receiving an invitation to study at Mindroling Monastery. He studied with masters who created the famous paintings of Korkyim Monastery.
As his talents for the tradition of Tibetan painting developed so did his adeptness in the ritual arts. He was appointed umdze, leader of the chants and held that position until he left in 1998. During his time at the monastery he assisted with the restoration of hundreds of the temple’s paintings.
A very close personal friend of Dr Nida’s from during their time in Tibet, Lama Gyurme has consecrated our Yuthok Ling temple and statues at Pure Land Farms and has kindly agreed to train our students in the ritual arts.
Bair Manzarkhan, a native of Buryatia in Eastern Siberia, is a skilled practitioner of Tibetan external therapies and dedicated student of the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition. He brings deep expertise in Traditional Tibetan Medicine alongside training in Russian and Asian medical massage traditions.
Bair graduated from the Ulan-Ude Fundamental Medical College in 1999 with a specialization in the Healing Arts and holds a master's degree in Psychology. He has worked at renowned centers including the Institute for Eastern Medicine in Ulan-Ude, the largest and most respected center for Tibetan medical treatment in the Buryat region, where he specialized in treating patients with spinal injuries, chronic pain, and internal disease.
As a resident of Pure Land Farms and close spiritual student of Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, Bair has cultivated a deep connection to the land and commitment to Shanglon protector practices. He brings both technical skill and spiritual grounding to his healing work, embodying the integrated approach of medicine and dharma practice that characterizes the Yuthok lineage.
