Moxibustion: Tibetan External Therapy
Online Workshop with Bair Manzarkhanov, LMT
Moxibustion/ moxa (mesta in Tibetan) is an external therapy that uses the application of heat produced by particular herbal substances in the form of cones, rolled sticks, or less common materials such as heated stones or wooden sticks, used on specific areas of the body in order to remove energy blockages, restore blood circulation, and relieve pain. Moxa is a very effective treatment for all cold-natured diseases caused by wind/loong and phlegm/beken, neurological problems, channel problems, lymphatic problems, and problems related to excess fluids.
In this online introductory workshop, Bair Manzarkhanov, LMT will introduce the theory of moxibustion, show us how to locate moxa points on the body, and teach a very simple form of the practice that can be done using herbal incense sticks. This is an excellent workshop for bodyworkers, healers of various modalities, or anyone simply interested in applying this simple and safe home remedy to friends and family.
Materials: please have incense sticks available if you would like to practice during the class. It is important to use all-natural, chemical-free incense (preferably Tibetan or Bhutanese), such as this one.
